Five Cute Ohmiya Moments

1. Nino takes Ohno shopping, because it’s his mother’s birthday soon and he’s not completely sure he can do it on his own. They hesitate to go to Ginza or Shinjuku for fear that the chances of one Arashi member being spotted increases exponentially with every added member, but the only areas Nino could think to look are there. Finally they settle on Shinjuku and hats, and they window-shop for two hours that way. The entire time, Nino’s right hand in Ohno’s left, and when he sees something interesting he tugs on their connected hands and points with his free one. Ohno ducks his head to be right near Nino’s, so he can see exactly what’s caught his eye. Eventually, Ohno buys his mother a chic new bag and pen, and they finish the trip with chocolate and banana crepes.

Nino writes an entire entry for his nikki about it that night, but deletes it in the end because he decides he’d rather keep the day as something just theirs.


2. They sleep over with each other frequently, but rarely is it planned for. Nino likes to just show up on Ohno’s doorstep with dinner, and Ohno has long since given up trying to keep Nino out of his house. Sometimes Ohno will be the one to appear at Nino’s, usually because no one else is at his house and he gets lonely. Nino shuffles him in, and they lean against each other’s backs as Nino levels up his characters and Ohno works on the bridge of a clay nose. Someone will fall asleep and the other is too amused to wake him up and send him home, so it’s not unusual for them to end up curled against each other, tangled in a nest of blankets, Nino shifting constantly and Ohno utterly dead weight. Nino makes Ohno shower first, because he’s too busy catching those last precious seconds of sleep.

And on the days when they fall asleep in their own beds, apart, they always text message each other in the morning with “Ohayo <3”

3. On the rare days off that coincide, Nino likes to sleep as late as humanly possible. Ohno would too, but he gets hungry, so he’s usually up first around lunchtime. In the early afternoon, he makes up a plate of his Ohno Special Super Deluxe toast and brings it to Nino, rousing him with the scent. Still groggy, Nino eats and hums happily as Ohno sits behind him, arms around Nino’s waist, filling the air with light conversation until Nino’s awake enough to contribute. In exchange, when Ohno starts to doze off in the tub, Nino washes his hair for him and makes sure he doesn’t drown.

And when they curl up in bed together, Ohno rests his head on Nino’s heart, and Nino combs his fingers through Ohno’s hair until they’re both lulled to sleep.

4. At first, Nino had found traveling on tour to be tedious. He didn’t like sleeping in different beds every night, or airplanes and trains, or anything that wasn’t home. At some point, he expressed this frustration to Ohno, who agreed whole-heartedly, and soon enough they were sharing a room, just to give each other something familiar. Gradually, Ohno would wake up with Nino curled around him, and he simply rearranged the covers around them and went back to sleep.

One night, Nino looked at him and gestured at the bed, and Ohno realized it was because despite ending up together, they always started apart. Lifting the corner of the covers in invitation, he smiled. Relieved, Nino crawled under and wrapped an arm around Ohno’s waist, and Ohno pecked him on the crown of his head.

He always slept better once Nino was snuffling beside him anyway.

5. The last thing Ohno was expecting when the thunderstorm hit was for Nino to appear at the door, knocking loudly and dripping wet. Shivering and wide eyed, Nino’s hand shot out to grab at Ohno’s sleeve before he even quite realized it, and Ohno only had to look at him for a moment to understand. He pulled Nino inside, and shuffled him to the bathroom for a hot shower and dry clothes, before tucking him in under a large fluffy blanket. Nino’s gaze kept flickering to the windows, jumpy and nervous, until Ohno sat down with him, holding him close and warm.

He rocked back and forth, singing softly in Nino’s ear, drowning out the rolls of thunder until Nino’s small trembles had stopped.

“I was in the area,” he murmured stubbornly, starting to fall asleep in Ohno’s arms.

“Okay,” said Ohno with an indulgent smile, well aware that the next time the clouds rumbled, Nino would return to where it was safe; right here, with Ohno.
